A Call for Giant Puppets!
0Giant Puppets Marching in Fremont!
Trolloween, on October 31st of each year, features many usually unusual things, like trolls, fire dancers, hysterical dramas and serene comedies. This year, the theme is ‘The March of Giants’, and involves giant puppets, opera singers, dance companies, and many costumed participants. This event is a public opera and involves spectacle, dance, singing, and music. This is a community celebration of the birthday of the Fremont Troll sculpture, and really offers little money to performers. A honorarium can be offered to the Puppeteers of Puget Sound if a ‘handful’ of giant puppets show up from the Puppeteers of Puget Sound. The Fremont Arts Council offers this annual event as a gift to the community, and rain or not, at 7 PM, at the Fremont Troll, under the Aurora Bridge, the mischievous merriment will occur. A procession will proceed through the community, and is known as the ‘Haunt of Fremont’. It ends under the Fremont Drawbridge in a covered parking lot with dancing and a costume and display walk across the stage there. Contact Maque at maque@drizzle.com for further information.

Description of Story:
The three bears load up their trailer and leave Yellowstone Park for a vacation in Hollywood, California. When Papa Bear, Mama Bear and Baby Bear take a walk, Goldilocks and her pet duck stumble upon their campsite where the porridge is hot and the bed is just right! Songwriter Sue Ennis has written 50’s rock, country and pop tunes for this classic story with a modern twist.
Lisa Haslbauer, Brian Stabile and Gina Wilhelm are the puppeteers in the production directed by Jean Enticknap with puppets designed and build by Brian Kooser.
Northwest Puppet Theatre presents: “Il Girello: The Wheel of Fortune”
0Dear Friends,
It is time for our annual marionette opera extravaganza! This year, we are proud to present:
IL GIRELLO: THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE
April 13-22, 2012
In 1682, this production debuted in Venice. Now 330 years later, the oldest extant marionette opera is resurrected! With help from a magical root, Girello the gardener becomes king for the day. In guise of the King of Thebes, he locks up the corrupt ministers and frees the wrongly convicted lovers. When the true king returns, there is much mayhem as two kings are giving contradictory orders. Staged by Carter Family Marionettes with a beautifully hand-carved cast of characters and live musical ensemble!

Call for Photos
0Hello Newsletter Editors, Web Managers, Guild Contacts, Regional Presidents, and more,
This is Nick Hubbard, writing to you in my capacity as part of the organizing team for the 2013 Puppeteers of America National Festival. Below is a call for photos from past national festivals that I hope you will be willing to communicate to your members and communities, whether through your newsletters, websites, or upcoming meetings. As you will see, we are looking for the photos to post to our Facebook page and possibly our festival website. All the information you need should be there, but if you have any questions feel free to contact me or Carole D’Agostino, who is the lead for this photo-posting project: hellocarole@yahoo.com
Thank you for helping us to promote our community and give American puppeteers a chance to celebrate good memories of festivals past. We appreciate it!
Nick Hubbard

Text of the call:
_____________________________________________________________________
Hello Puppeteers of America guilds! This is Nick Hubbard, part of the organizing team for the next PofA National Festival in 2013. One of our goals in planning the Festival is to promote Community and encourage new people to join P of A. To that end, we are searching for photos from past National Festivals that feature folks having fun. We’re hoping that some of you might be willing to share 2 or 3 of your favorite photos with our Facebook page and possibly our festival website?
We’re looking for photos of people hanging out, having a good time, not necessarily fancy production shots. These photos are not for profit, they are simply part of a photo album that people can see and share with friends on Facebook and possibly the festival website.
To see an example check this album.
You can see how we present the images, thank the donor, and let folks tag themselves. It’s a nice variety!
We are giving credit for photos wherever possible. If you have concerns about privacy, let us know and we can discuss. Some donors have taken the step to contact people in the photos for permission, though that is not necessary. If you do not wish to be credited, that is also ok.
I hope you’ll consider sharing a few photos, which you can do by sending the photos and any photographer credits to our festival e-mail: PuppetFestival.r.Evolution@gmail.com
Thank you very much,
Nick Hubbard
